Emerald Bay State Park
Visitors at the Emerald Bay State Park may enjoy things such as hiking, swimming, kayaking, scuba diving, boating, sightseeing and touring Vikingsholm.
Sand Harbor is part of Lake Tahoe, which is the largest alpine lake in North America. The amazing water gives visitors a peaceful retreat to swim, kayak and scuba dive.
Vikingsholm is one of the first summer homes at Lake Tahoe. It is considered one of the finest examples of Scandinavian architecture in the United States.
Winters at Lake Tahoe are wonderful. As a winter sports destination you can find no equal. With an average of 500 inches of snow per year and 260 days of sunshine our climate can't be beat. Here are some good links and phone numbers for the area.

Within walking distance (20 minutes through the neighborhood) . Ski the trails of the 1960 Olympics. Groomed striding lanes. Some skating is available where the trails allow. Sorry doggers are not allowed on these trails.
Summer is one of the most popular seasons here at Lake Tahoe. You can usually count on summer starting around June sometime and continuing on into September and October. Here are some links and other information that may be helpful or of interest. Remember that many of the Summer activities continue well into the Fall. In fact the hiking, biking and fishing only get better during the fall.
Fishing
This area abounds with great waters to throw a fly at. If you're fishing the area for the 1st time we recommend hiring a guide. The Truckee River isn't called "The Toughy" for nothing. Easier fishing can be found south of Tahoma off Carson pass in the West and East Carson Rivers. Desolation wilderness offers some great backcountry fishing. If you promise to practice catch and release, Dick might even share a spot or 2.

Biking
Ride around Tahoe 72 miles, catch the bike trail to Sugar Pine or find a solitary mountain bike trail. Any kind of riding you can think of is here at Tahoe. We have some great shops in the area with rentals, trail guides, guided tours and shuttles.

Tahoma Meadows is an ideal place to base day hikes or even overnight hikes from. We are situated near many trail heads leading into Desolation Wilderness, Granite Chief Wilderness, The Pacific Crest Trail and the Tahoe National Forest. Just give us a call and we'll let you know the trail conditions or what trails will suit you best.
Lake Tahoe is a spectacular place to kayak. If you want to get out on the water, and we recommend that you do, a kayak is one of the best ways to do it. Sea or touring kayaks are very stable and safe so anyone can paddle one. On a calm day it will seem as if you are floating above the bottom of the lake suspended in air. It is a feeling that you can get only in a kayak or Sup. Our recommendation is to head down to Sugar Pine Point State park and get a boat right on the beach. - Dick & Ulli

ATV and 4x4 Tours
Tahoma Meadows is located just 1/2 mile from the East end of the famous Rubicon Jeep trail. This is rated as one of the knarliest 4x4 trails in the country. If you are planning on doing any driving on the trail you had better have a pretty heavy duty 4x4. The average rental Ford Explorer wont make it 100 yards beyond the staging area.
